The first Ohio Fish and Shrimp Festival was held in 2002, after the first crop of Ohio shrimp was raised the previous year. Dr. Dave Smith, President of Freshwater Farms of Ohio, wanted a way to educate the public on the health benefits of fresh seafood and the importance of preserving aquatic life, and have a little fun while doing it. So, the festival was born!
The 15th annual Ohio Fish and Shrimp Festival takes place September 16th-18th, 2016 at Freshwater Farms of Ohio. The festival attracts over 8,000 festival guests. Many guests come from neighboring counties while others travel from out of state and enjoy exploring our local shops, restaurants and attractions while they're here.
We could use you one day or every day! We would prefer you work at least a 4 hour shift while you're here. Just let us know when you're available. You will be assisting members of our staff to ensure that our visitors receive a great experience during their visit to Champaign County!
VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED FOR...
Festival Set-up (Manual Labor)
Sept. 12th-15th
Pound posts, Put up fencing, Put up signs along road, Farm clean-up, Set-up tables and chairs, tents, trash cans, etc.
Parking GATE Attendants (2 people)
Friday 3pm-9:00pm
Saturday 9am-9:00pm
Sunday 10am-4pm
We have two gates that need manned. These volunteers will be seated most of the time. Attendants will be in charge of checking passes to make sure only those permitted may enter.
Parking Attendants (2-3 people)
Friday 3pm-9:00pm

Sunday 10am-4pm
Assist visitors as they pull in the driveway and answer any questions on where to park. Direct cars as needed to overflow parking. Keep an eye on handicapped parking spots to make sure only those permitted park there.
Grounds Crew (3-5 people)
Friday 5pm-10:30pm
Saturday 10am-10pm
Sunday 11am-6pm
These volunteers will help empty trash, pick up trash, clean and stock the restrooms, etc.
