Who We Are

Clerk of Courts is an an elected position and is in charge of two different offices- the Legal Office and the Title Office.

The Legal Office of the Clerk of Courts Office is responsible for filing, docketing, indexing, processing, and preserving all court pleadings for civil, felony criminal and domestic relations cases, as well as the filings for the District Court of Appeals.

Auto Title Office is responsible for issuing certificates of Title to the residents of Ohio for their purchases of automobiles, motorcycles, off-road vehicles, motor/mobile homes, and watercraft. 

 

What We Do

Core Responsibilities of Legal Office


The Clerk of Courts office plays a vital role in serving the interests of justice. This role includes:

  • Filing, docketing, indexing, and preserving all court pleadings for civil, felony criminal, and domestic relations cases
  • Maintaining filings for the District Court of Appeals
  • Collection of all revenue related to court costs, bonds, fines, and forfeitures

The Clerk of Courts has the authority to issue writs to carry out Court orders including summons, subpoenas, warrants to arrest, and sign the death warrant in capital murder cases.

Title Office


The Clerk of Courts Office is also responsible for the collection of revenues annually of sale and use taxes in the Auto Title Division when issuing certificates of title to the residents of Ohio for their purchases of:

  • Automobiles
  • Motorcycles
  • Off-road vehicles
  • Motor/mobile homes
  • Watercraft
