Position: Parenting Network Volunteer

Description:

Are you looking to make an investment in someone's life that will make positive changes within our community? Family & Youth Initiatives has a Parenting Network program where you can do just that! We seek volunteers who can dedicate 2-3 hours weekly at any of our three locations: New Carlisle, Springfield, and Fairborn. Your support will help create a stronger and more supportive parenting community.

Training:

Training is provided through the Bright Couse Curriculum and by the Parenting Network Staff.

Responsibilities:

Support:  Office management, answering phones, scheduling appointments, greeting clients, sorting donations, bundling diapers, etc. Active Listening: Listen to the concerns and questions of fellow parents without judgment, offering empathy and understanding. Empowering: Encourage parents to actively participate in their children's lives and make decisions that benefit their family. One-on-One Meetings: Meet with clients to address their unique needs and concerns. Collaboration: Work closely with parent educators and other professionals to ensure a comprehensive support system.

Qualifications:

A friendly and compassionate demeanor, patience, and an ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds are highly desirable.

Hours:  Volunteer hours may vary based on the location and your availability. Please see below.

Fairborn – Tuesday 10 am-3 pm; Wednesday – 2 pm-7 pm; and Thursday - 10 am-3 pm Springfield – Tuesday 10 am-6 pm; Wednesday – 10 am – 6 pm and Thursday 9 am – 5 pm New Carlisle – Tuesday 10 am-6 pm; Wednesday – 3 pm-7 pm

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young students? Do you believe in the power of mentorship to inspire and guide the next generation? If so, we invite you to become a valued volunteer for the FYI New Roots Mentoring Program.

About the Program: FYI New Roots Mentoring Program is an exciting initiative to provide guidance, support, and positive role models. By fostering meaningful connections, we can empower students to reach their full potential academically, socially, and emotionally.

Volunteer Opportunities:

Student Mentors (Elementary and Middle Schools):

Location: Elementary and middle schools within the Tecumseh and Greenon School districts Time Commitment: You can serve from 1 1/2 to 6 hours once a week.  Engage with students, provide guidance, share experiences, and foster a positive and supportive environment. Mentoring occurs one-on-one, in groups, or in classroom settings. Responsibilities: Provide mental and emotional support to students by being a consistent presence in their lives.  Being a positive role model in their lives  Reinforce positive self-esteem and influence by showing them they are valued, heard, and understood.
